Wise Solutions professional development seminars have a significant impact on staff well being. The 9th International Mental Health Conference was this year held on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Amongst the speakers were our very own Dr Helen Street and Mr Neil Porter presenting findings from onging research examining the effectiveness of Wise Solutions professional development seminars. The presentation examined the importance of motivations controlling goal setting and pursuit in the development and maintenance of ongoing well being. Findings suggest that strategies focusing on healthy means of goal setting provide an innovative approach to stress reduction.

The assessment process   describes how the Wise Solutions process  works to assess ALL students in your school

The Assessment Process

Once you have placed an order staff and students complete questionnaires either

  • Online using our confidential online data entry system. OR
  • By printing out a paper copy from our questionnaire templates.  If this option is chosen then completed questionnaires can
  1. be entered onto a spreadsheet which is returned to us electronically or
  2. posted directly to us for data entry and analyses.
  3.

We send you completed reports as a confidential email attachment to a previously approved email address.

Staff complete questionnaires for each child in their class. All questionnaires have been designed with the time pressures of teaching in mind and thus each takes under five minutes to complete. Each child also completes their own questionnaire. Younger children can be encouraged with additional guidance for each question; however, they should not need more than ten minutes to complete all questions. Older children can complete their more detailed questionnaires in ten – twenty minutes.

If you choose paper questionnaires then we can provide you with a specially prepared Excel spreadsheet for your data entry. This can be completed in less than 10 hours of employee time for an average sized school. Please note: we have designed the process to ensure that Wise Solutions offers an affordable evaluation and assessment service for your school. If you would like additional help and support with data collection and/or data entry we are happy to arrange this for you.  Email your completed spreadsheet to Wise Solutions at your convenience.

Analyses of all data is then personally completed by Dr. Helen Street.  Your school’s data is checked for accuracy, reliability and completeness.  It is then analysed in detail using the latest statistical software. Helen ensures that scale items fit together in a valid way and that questionnaires have been completed accurately. Reliability is measured and validity reviewed. Helen accounts for missed items and inconsistent answers. Overall measures are then calculated and compared to established norms.

Your school is provided with a confidential list of students indicating clinical levels of mental health problems for each of the constructs assessed (depression, anxiety, conduct disorders, hyperactivity and inattention, bullying and aggression).  This list is emailed to a designated contact in confidence FIVE working days from receipt of your completed data entry sheet.
